The Great Gatsby

From a young age I have developed a strong love for books and connected with a variety of them. One of the many books I have read that had an impact on me was The Great Gatsby by Scott J. Fitzgerald. This fiction novel portrays a story of romance, tragedy and mystery. It takes place in West Egg, Long Island in the year 1922.  The Great Gatsby is written in the point of view of the main character Nick Carraway, who moves into a tiny house next to the wealthy Jay Gatsby, who is on a quest to find his first love Daisy. Gatsby throws legendary parties with thousands of people, yet no one knows who he is. Throughout the novel, Gatsby uses Nick’s help to gain Daisy’s love. There are different themes portrayed throughout the novel. One of the many themes is the corruption of the American dream.

The reason I enjoyed reading The Great Gatsby is because the story seems as if it can be realistic. The Great Gatsby includes symbolism from the beginning of the book until the end. For some reason I fell in love with Jay Gatsby’s character. He was flawed and deeply in love with a married woman, although he is an extremely innocent and hopeful man. For the most part of this novel, there was a large amount of details. Fitzgerald displayed this tragedy with vivid descriptions. When reading this novel thinking deeper is necessary, which is why I was fond of it. I can always reread this novel over and over again without becoming tired of it.
